It's been 9 whole months since our last interview with the mighty OLM-Remix. They're back, and with the brand new third album 'Playback'. OLM-Remix discusses it's plans for the future and what 'Playback' is all about.

Oliver, it's been a while! 9 months ago we were sitting here talking about your 5th single 'Baby Don't Dance' and now it's time for the release of 'Bleeding Love' and 'Playback'! So what's been going on inbertween?
< OLM-REMIX
There's been loads been going on, from releases to website change-rounds, all sorts really! We introduced the Download Bundles at the start of the year and they've been very successful, launched the Download Store which enabled the fans of OLM-Remix to download more freely. Then more recently we've opened the new forum, released a new single, new album on the way.. it's just been crazy!

But being busy is always a good sign that OLM-Remix is becoming more popular?
< OLM-REMIX
I hope so. I've done so much more work this year than last year I've hardly had a minute to myself. It really has been manic, but enjoyable to make.
> OR-FIRST
This time last year, 'Break The Ice' was released and went to #1. How do you think the times have changed since?
< OLM-REMIX
I think you can tell just by the quality and detail, 'Break The Ice' was one of the first mixes i made in 2008 via some new hardware which wasn't 'all that' and then with 'Bleeding Love' i've got more advanced, using better software and developing new skills - it's made all the difference.

'Bleeding Love' was released just under a week ago. How's it charting so far and what is it's impact on OLM-Remix?
< OLM-REMIX
Well obviously I can't reveal too much information about the chart at the moment, but it's currently top 3. I think it will have a big impact on the site as it is a good mix, much better than the mixes I produced last year.

Yet the video for 'Bleeding Love' is the least viewed on the OLM-Remix YouTube Channel?

Well, thats a bleeding nightmare haha!

Now lets talk about the new album, 'Playback'. We listened and rated 6 of the tracks from the album and we did like what we heard. What did you think of the album during the early stages?
< OLM-REMIX
Yeah lets talk about the new album, I started producing the album in November/December 2008, so as you can tell it's been in production for about 9/10 months. In the early stages of the album, the album sounded very different, it was sort of mid-tempo, trance, sort of feel.

So describe the albums feel and sound now.
< OLM-REMIX
It's sort of synth, trance, dance, club yet it still has those mid-tempo qualities.
> OR-FIRST
So would you describe it as a progression from 'Dust 2 Gold'?
< OLM-REMIX
I wouldn't say progression really, it's a new sound mixed with the old to give us a new, vibrant sound.

Why did you choose 'Bleeding Love' for the first single?
< OLM-REMIX
'Bleeding Love' was made during the 'Dust 2 Gold' period, but it didn't quite fit and wasn't really made purposely for 'Dust 2 Gold'. Then when 'Playback' started to come together it gelled really well with the other album tracks. It was the first single because it summed up the album prety well, it had all of the qualities of the album tracks, rolled into one.

With the first single out and released, what are the plans for the seccond single?
< OLM-REMIX
The seccond single is already planned and it's been planned for about a month now. It's gonna be a very big single for the remainder of the year, and we're trying something new as well, so you'll have to look out for that. The next single will be anounced soon though so keep youre eyes open!

Other than future singles, what about the download bundles and exclusive download packages?

I've got some more Download Bundles planned for the remainder of the year, and I should be deciding the next Exclusive Download Package soon.

'Dust 2 Gold' peaked at #2 but has been cirtificiated Platinum. Do you think 'Playback' will beat it?
< OLM-REMIX
It has the potential to because Playback is an achievement for OLM-Remix, a milestone if you want to put it. I've introduced some new artists to this album, like Leona Lewis, Beyonce, The Saturdays, Black Eyed Peas and lots more, so I think it will help yes.

There were tracks you said you had mixed during the 'Playback' period but don't appear on the album, such as 'Issues' (The Saturdays) and 'Love Sex Magic' (Ciara). What has happened to them?
< OLM-REMIX
There was about 70 tracks made for the album and I had to whittle that down to just 14 so it was really difficult to choose what was going to be in the final cut. And unfortunately those mixes are left un-released.

'Baby Dont Dance'

It's been about three months since we had our last interview with Oliver from OLM-Remix. We caught up with him on Wednesday to chat about the album and new single!

Hi Oliver! It's nice to see you again. Now the last time we caught up, it was back in September when we were discussing the third single 'Break The Ice'. Since then, what's been going on?
< OLM-REMIX
Nice to see you too Nicole! Gosh, September seems such a long time ago now, even though it was only three months back! I've been really busy with promoting the new album 'Dust 2 Gold' which is doing extremely well, (currently at #3 in the chart), along with single 'Walk This Way'. And now i've just anounced the next single, which is 'Baby Dont Dance'!

Blimmee! You've been busy then! So how well are your latest releases going?
< OLM-REMIX
Well, 'Break The Ice' went to #1 a couple of months back, then our first exclusive download package 'Up!' was released and that stormed to #1, and has been our most downloaded release to date! 'Walk This Way' was released, and at the moment that is standing at #5 in the chart! Then the latest album 'Dust 2 Gold' was released and that's been climbing up the charts, now at #3!

That is a massive success. Do you think the album will go to #1?
< OLM-REMIX
Well, there is quite a big gap, download wise, between our current #1 (Up) and 'Dust 2 Gold' (#3) so you know, anything could hapen.

Okay, well it's time to get some information about the next single 'Baby Dont Dance'. What can we expect from this release?
< OLM-REMIX
Well, 'Baby Dont Dance' is the first Steps release i've ever done. OLM-Remix when it first opened was really based around Steps so to bring a Steps single out is really important. I'm hoping it will do really well since there are alot of Steps fans still out there!

So the audience you have now is still a Steps audience, or is it quite mixed now?
< OLM-REMIX
Well it's quite mixed now. It's not that far away 'til our seccond year online and times have changed since when we opened the site. The audience i have now, i'd say is more mixed than it's ever been.

So from that do you think you're Steps remixing will die out?
< OLM-REMIX
Deffinatly not! OLM-Remix was built around Steps at the time when it opened, so it's lovely to back to our roots and release this remix. The remix i did for 'Baby Dont Dance' was my first studio remix for Steps so it's kinda special.

'Dust 2 Gold' has been a massive success. Will 'Baby Dont Dance' be the last single from it? We heard that you're mix of 'Womanizer' would be the third single to be lifted.
< OLM-REMIX
I'm not sure yet if this will be the last single to be lifted. I'd like to think there will be another single from this, but who knows. Ahh! The remix to 'Womanizer'! I loved that remix so much, it was a real achievment to remix this and then it turned out so great! What you hear are just rumours, just rumours.

The tracklisting for the single was officialy anounced yesturday and there is a new version of 'Baby Dont Dance' Sleazesisters Remix. We love Sleazesisters.

Yeah, when i decided that 'Baby Dont Dance' would be the next single, i thought it would be great to give the fans something they never got - a Sleazesisters remix for 'Baby Dont Dance'. I had made one back in 2007, but i decided to advance it ready for 2009.

We will have a clip of the new Sleazesisters remix on OR-First soon - what do you think the reaction will be by the fans?
< OLM-REMIX
I hope it's positive. I love Sleazesisters, and their remixes are amazing. I've sampled quite alot of their remixes for this mix to invtent a sort-of new sound. I think it sounds amazing, and i can't wait for everyone to hear it!

What are you're plans for 2009?
< OLM-REMIX
Good question. I'm not to sure yet, other than we have the new single out on January 12th. I'll probably have a break for a while then come back with some new material. I'm also going off to Colege in the Autumn so i'm not quite sure how it'll plan out. Who knows.

Colege is a big comitment. Is the end of OLM-Remix? And you mention new material, does that mean a 2009 album?
< OLM-REMIX
This is definatly not the end of OLM-Remix. No way. Why would i want to do that? Things are just starting to go great, and i'm not planning to hop out of producing just yet. A new alum. Hmm, well. Who knows. A 2009 album. You'll just have to wait and see.

'Break The Ice'

Last week, me and Oliver got together for this years new single release! I asked him alot of questions, and i have chose the best ones to show you all! After a quick chat and a cup of coffee later, the interview finally started. Make sure you read the full interview, you will not be dissapointed...
OLM-Remix First: This is the first single to be taken from you're new untitled album. 'Break The Ice' is the new single, and is out next week. How does it compare to the past two single releases?
OLM-Remix: The remix that i did for Break The Ice, at the time i made it, felt right to release it as a single. It is a bit different to the last two singles i've done becuase this remix was more edgyer than past remixes i've done before.
OLM-Remix First: The video for the new single has been put onto YouTube. How many views has it had so far?
OLM-Remix: So far, the video has had over 100 views, but it's climbing all the time. There is a certain pressure when it comes to making videos becuase if you don't get them right, then no-one will watch them. It's really important that you get it 100% right or suffer the consiquences.
OLM-Remix First: Break The Ice was released earlyer in the year by Britney. Do you think that this remix could be as popular as the song?
OLM-Remix: There's always hope *laughs*
OLM-Remix First: The B-Sides for this single are amazing, expecially the Toxic remix. Explain how you know what makes the perfect b-side.
OLM-Remix: Gosh! The perfect b-side. The perfect b-side remix has to be to a popular song and it has to go down really well during production. It also has to please it's audience, and if it dosn't do any of those three, then scrap it.
OLM-Remix First: A 30 seccond clip of the Toxic remix was put onto our website. Are you pleased with the final outcome of the remix, and do you think it will boost the popularity of the single?
OLM-Remix: I am extreamly pleased with the way Toxic turned out. Initially, the remix was going to be made and probabbly shelved for a while, but after hearing the final version, it just had to be released! Yes, i'm hoping that it will boost the singles download figures cause Toxic was one of Britney's #1's, and the remix is top-notch so everyone should really like listening to it.
OLM-Remix First: We understand that the Toxic remix is just an edit being released at the moment. Is there any chance of everyone hearing the full remix?
OLM-Remix: Haha, we'll just have to wait and see.
OLM-Remix First: Oviously, you're new album is due out in November. On the album, are they any tracks that you think could over power Break The Ice?
OLM-Remix: Of course! There are a lovely bunch of remixes on the new album, and some are deffinatly as good, maybe even better than Break The Ice.
OLM-Remix First: So how did you know that Break The Ice had to be the first single release from this new album?
OLM-Remix: Well work begun on the album, all the way back in late February, which is some time ago! It was the first remix i had made for the album, and when i heard the finishing result, i had to release it. But now the album is near enough compleate, Break The Ice is just one of many catchy floor-fillers on the album.
OLM-Remix First: Recently, there has been many rumours of the highly popular megamix made by you for Girls Aloud's 'Tangled Up' album, will also get it's own single release. We'd love to know if this is true or compleatly fabricated?
OLM-Remix: I agree that it has had a massive impact on OLM-Remix. It is one of the most watched videos on the OLM-Remix YouTube channel. Unfortunaly, the next single to be taken from the album has already been decided and the 'Tangled Up' megamix will not get a single release, but fans of the mix will be pleased as it will be released on the new album!
OLM-Remix First: That's great news to hear that it will deffinatly be on the album! We have heard the sampler for the album, and i've gotta say, it is exeptionally good! I am chuffed that the megamix will get on the official album release! Ok, last question. Any chance you could tell us what the next single will be?
OLM-Remix: *Laughs* Thanks! I've really enjoyed putting together the new album and i'm glad that you enjoyed listening to the sampler! Unfortunatly, i'm keeping the seccond single release quiet... for now!
